The experience was amazing! I felt like the trip really brought together many different groups of people that don’t usually connect.

Join us for an Amazing French Adventure!

Paris has, for centuries, been at the center of art, culture, architecture, literature, poetry, and design in Europe. From the renaissance to today, the city has brimmed with the finest thinkers and the most brilliant ideas. Our tour of Paris will highlight a variety of cultural, artistic, and historic icons the city has to offer. There are multiple curricular connections in the subjects of English, French, History, and Art. The most notable connection, of course, is the real-world opportunity for students to practice their French language skills. We will incorporate aspects of each subject into the trip program. Students will use their French language skills on a day-to-day basis, learn about French history at the locations we visit, and see world famous art at the Louvre Museum. Naturally, no trip to France is complete without a day at Disney, Paris! The trip will be chaperoned by seasoned MKS teachers, including french-speaking staff members. Furthermore, this is the third time we are taking this particular trip with the same itinerary and tour company. We have had marvelous fun and success in the past. I sincerely hope you will consider allowing your student to be a part of this incredible experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm nervous about sending my child. Is Paris safe?

Yes! Paris is very safe. We completely understand your concerns. As a parent, it can be daunting to send your child away for an entire week. We conduct risk assessments for every trip at MKS. We also send experienced chaperones and tour with an expert local guide. The chaperones on this trip have all traveled with MKS students in the past and have a great track record of safety and fun. Paris is also a very safe city! There are some risks of pick-pocketing, but with avoidance measures taken we have seen no cases of this on our trips to Paris. Student safety is the most important factor in planning international student travel. We pride ourselves on a great safety track record.

Is the food halal?

Yes! All food options provided to students are certified halal. Our travel agency has been very accommodating of students’ dietary needs for halal requirements, vegetarians, and those with specific dietary requirements. We never want students to feel hungry or unsatisfied, and we will be sure to check all food products before consumption.

What about the visa?

Ultimately, parents are responsible to ensure they fulfill all of the documentation requirements for the Schengen Visa to France. It is essential that passport copies be clear and legible and that expat families have a valid residency in the Kingdom of Bahrain. MKS will assist families with the visa application process, including collecting and verifying all documents and conducting a field trip to the French Embassy to submit the visa applications directly. Visa fees are not included in the trip price.

How much money should I send with my child?

Check the web for up to date exchange rates. We recommend sending about 30 BD per student per day to cover necessary expenses. Please do not send large amounts of cash. ATMs are available throughout Paris and can be used to pull out local currency. Inform you bank ahead of time that you will be traveling to avoid fees and to ensure your card will work properly. Obviously excessive shopping or purchases will require more money, but these are certainly not required.

What is included in the price?

The total trip cost includes international airfare, airport transfers, all ground transportation in Paris, 4-Star or greater hotel accommodation, breakfasts, entry fees to all itinerary activities and programs, and comprehensive travel insurance. The cost of the visa, lunches, and dinners are not included. At the request of the students, the meals were removed because they want to choose the specific meals they take. We will make dinner reservations at halal restaurants and students will order their own food items.

I have airline miles. Can I book my child's flight independently?

No, students must be booked with the rest of the group through our approved travel partners. This is to ensure that all students are together and supervised at all times. This also ensures that if there are any flight delays or cancellations we can easily change tickets and make itinerary adjustments.

Who will look after the students?

We send a minimum of 3 staff, and typically send 1 staff member for every 10 attending students. For example, last year three staff chaperones attending alongside our 19 students. We are sending veteran MKS staffers on this trip who have all traveled internationally with students. We are joined on the trip by a local French guide for the duration of the trip. Our guide will stay in the same hotel and will be available 24 hours a day in case of any emergency. We will also be joined by specialist guides at several of the activities on our itinerary to lead tours and excursions.

What kind of food will they be eating?

We will make dinner reservations in advance at local French restaurants with certified halal options. Students will order directly from the menu and pay for their own food for lunches and dinners. This is by students’ requests from feedback on previous trips- our students very much prefer to have more choice in their dining options. There is also a grocery store and fast food available nearby the hotel if students are hungry at the end of the day- no one will go hungry! 🙂

What are the hotel arrangements?

We book the trip with Best Western Plus La Demeure Hôtel in central Paris. This is a four star hotel and we have absolutely loved this hotel on each trip. The staff are very friendly and courteous, and the rooms are clean and well-fitted. Students will sleep in queen size beds with double occupancy. Single rooms are available for a supplementary fee. Inquire with Mr. Bankes for details. At a date closer to the trip, a rooming signup will be shared for students to request rooming mates. We will do our best to honor all students’ requests. Boys and girls will stay on separate floors. The hallways have cameras and the front desk security will ensure that students do not leave the hotel at night. If necessary, staff members will take regular patrols in the halls to ensure students are safely in their rooms. There is no pool at the hotel.
